Gone are the old days of boring white frosting Bar or Bat Mitzvah cakes with blue Jewish starts on them… After all, this is 2009, and at this point in time cakes are readily available that will wow your guests. A flat round cake with white icing and chocolate layers may be tasty, but it likely will not leave a lasting impression on your guests.
If you have had a chance to watch a show like “Ace of Cakes,” you have already seen the amazing possibilities that exist when it comes to cakes. Cakes these days are not just flat and round. They can have interesting angles and details, pop-out characters, and even be sky-high if you like. For your Bar or Bat Mitzvah cake, why not choose a theme that is exciting to your teen? The cake can actually mirror his or her hobby or passion. It can be anything from a sport, rollercoaster, or fashion show that literally comes to life in the form of a cake. If your teen loves music, your Bar or Bat Mitzvah cake can be designed to resemble a favorite band or album. You can also get a cake that is designed to reflect your city. For example, if you are planning a Washington D. C Bar or Bat Mitzvah, why not have your cake designed like the skyline of DC? Some people have even incorporated Judaism into their cake in innovative ways. Why not have the cake be 3-foot tall image with an image of your teen reading from the Torah? It is possible to get creative and incorporate Judaism into the cake in a manor that far outshines just a simple Jewish star. There are amazing cake artists in most cities that can design an innovative Bar or Bat Mitzvah cake that will impress your guests, and keep them talking. And long after the cake has been eaten, you will have fantastic photos of your teen and his or her friends smiling and having a fabulous time while slicing into the cake. It might have been the middle of May, but the ballroom at Lakewood Country Club turned into a speed-skating and skiing Winter Wonderland for Shaner's Bar Mitzvah. Thanks to Patti at Party Warehouse, gorgeous blue led lights and winter-themed balloons adorned the ceiling above the dance floor and accented each table with the theme. Combined with illuminated truss towers, scanning lights, and 50" plasma televisions, the ballroom surely had the party atmosphere!
MC Brian, MC Todd, and 3 dancers mingled with both kids and adults during cocktail hour, in which they found an elaborate sushi and appetizer display, cocktails, and even air brush t-shirts, all while enjoying a gorgeous Saturday evening outside on the patio. The party quickly moved into the main ballroom, where the energy was contagious! A high-octane introduction set the stage for a non-stop opening dance set, followed by a three-course meal from Lakewood's fantastic caterer. Shaner's life was highlighted in a very nice montage shown on the plasmas, and from that point on, the dance floor never got empty. Guests of all ages packed the dance floor, actively being engaged by both MC's and dancers, while the DJ kept the music flowing. It was such a pleasure working with Kelly, Patti, Jason Weil, and all of the other staff that made Shaner's party so successful. Can't wait to see everyone at Nathan's in 2 years!! Labels: Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations Jeffrey's Bar Mitzvah at the Gaithersburg Hilton
How sweet it was! Jeffrey's Sweet Treat candy-themed Bar Mitzvah rocked the Gaithersburg Hilton on Saturday, May 9th. While the adults enjoyed beer, wine, and cocktail foods in the atrium, all of Jeffrey's friends gathered on the dance floor for games, dancing, and even live text messages onto plasma screens. The energy had just begun, but quickly got to full scale as MC Brian and his dancers led an action-packaged introduction for Joel and Toby, Sam, and of course, Jeffrey.
After a great intro dance set, both kids and adults sat down to delicious meals and an emotional candlelighting ceremony. Naturally, an exciting Hora followed, which over-flowed onto the carpet because every guest was on their feet and taking part of the action! It's always great to see every chair empty during these dance sets. Dessert was followed by a touching video montage, and MC Brian and his dancers kept the dance floor packed until the party ended, even though no one wanted to leave! Thanks again to the Morse family for letting us celebrate with them...a second time! Labels: Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations Monday, May 11, 2009Cool and Artistic Mitzvah Invitations

This past Saturday saw the transformation of Chase. Saturday morning… boy; Saturday evening… MAN! To Celebrate Chase’s coming of age, the Legacy Hotel in Rockville, MD was packed with friends, family, music, and games!
As adults entered, they were greeted with hors d'oeuvres, two fully stocked bars and tons of friends. For the kids, the first hour included tons of games. Double shot, air hockey, foosball, ping pong and even skee ball were all set up. As the party started picking up Chase's parents were introduced to the song ‘Get This Party Started,” by P!nk. Then it was Chase’s time to shine. Armed with two beauties on his side, he entered in to a special “Superstar,” by Lupe Fiasco. There was no stopping from there. Bodies covered the dance floor the entire night. Chase's mom even joined in with the kids in a game of Coke and Pepsi. Everyone danced for hours, there was no letting up until the very end! Another successful party hosted by MC Todd from Electric Entertainment! Labels: Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations Sunday, May 3, 2009Creating an Interactive Website for Your Simcha
You have probably been seeing couples make their own wedding websites for years. As we know, a wedding website will typically list all the specifics of the affair, directions for out of town guests, gift registry information, to name just a few features. Why not create a Bar or Bat Mitzvah website? After all, your guests will need all the same information.
A Bar or Bat Mitzvah website is easy to put together and post to the web. It is easy and simple to find an affordable web template. If you want an even easier alternative to a website, you can even choose to make a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Blog for free. Just check out www.wordpress.com and www.blogger.com. These sites will allow you to sign up for free and post your Blog in a matter of moments. If you aren’t already familiar with Blogging, it is a very simple and easy skill to pick up. You can also ask your kids for help, as they very likely may know more about Blogging that you think! Once you have your Bar or Bat Mitzvah website up and running, take some time and list all the details for travel and transportation that your guests will find helpful. You can include address, directions and photos from the hotel. For out of town guests, choices for eating and entertainment nearby the hotel will also be appreciated. The Bar or Bat Mitzvah website is also a very tactful place to post gift registry information. You don’t want to post a hint about gifts in the Bar or Bat Mitzvah invitation, but the website will allow your guests to locate this information for themselves. Blogs and websites are a great place to post photos. You can post images of you and your family before and after the Bar or Bat Mitzvah. After the event, you will undoubtedly have a ton more photos to post. You can also inform your guests on the website about the events at your Bar or Bat Mitzvah so they can start getting excited early on. Use your imagination and think about what will be exciting to your guests-definitely feel free to post information and links to your plans for catering and meal choices, Bar or Bat Mitzvah DJ, and photos of the venue. Another great reason to have a website for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah is that you can email your guests, and direct them over to the site for immediate information. Also when you make an update to the site, you can instantly email all your friends and relatives and tell them to check it out. Labels: Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations, Party Tips and Tricks Lillie's Bat Mitzvah in Vienna, VA
Saturday morning saw Lillie take to the bima and become a Bat Mitzvah at Temple Beth Emeth in Herndon, VA. Saturday night saw 175 of Lillie's closest friends and family celebrate her accomplishment!
Westwood Country Club was decked out in orange, pink and gold as guests made their way into the the building. Adults were treated to a fully stocked bar - while Lillie's friends spent the first hour of the party enjoying wax hands in the Riverside Room. As the doors opened to the ballroom, Lillie's friends had already taken over half of the dance floor - the other half was soon overflowing with adults as we got ready for Lillie's grand entrance. Lillie was carried in by two of our Bat Mitzvah dancers to the song "When I Grow Up", by the Pussycat Dolls. After that, we got Lillie's whole family to lead a line dance for their friends. Dinner followed, and as people finished up we played a quick game of Coke N Pepsi with all 75 of Lillie's friends, and then we levitated this same group! The hora and dancing capped off the night - I don't even think people got a chance to eat dessert since the dance floor was so packed! Of course, following the party Lillie wanted to do it all again the next day. Another great Bat Mitzvah celebration hosted by MC Brian and the rest of our crew at Electric Entertainment! We worked with Carin from Events Extraordinaire - who coordinated the event and made sure everything went off as planned. Patti, from Party Warehouse, did all the balloons in the room including the wonderful arch that went above our DJ booth! Labels: Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations |
